Employers are using these to see how stable you are with your own life. In their heads, if you can't handle paying your own bills on time and in a responsible way, how can you handle the company's budget or deadlines in a responsible way.

Check your credit report multiple times throughout the year. This will give you the time to correct any inaccuracies before they become a problem.
